Buy It Now - The S/S 2015 Trench Coat

Thursday, April 09, 2015

Why reserve your trench coat for the worst of days? Just like a luxurious and well invested fur, one should not be waiting for gray skies and bad weather to display your style. As seen with Jean Paul Gaultier and Burberry, it's quite difficult for the right trench to go out of style. With designers frequently revamping the classic investment piece, can we ever remember the last time a trench out was unfashionable? Now that Spring has come and a new sense of dressing hits the air, this season's new trench will surly not just be the doubty item that weighs down your ensemble.

The need for refreshing and eye pleasing pieces are needed now more than ever. Which seems to be a key reason why designers are focusing on a younger audience, or at least those with the "young at heart" mindset. After the trench coat was developed as an alternative to the heavy serge greatcoats worn during the first World War, fast-forward about 100 years and today's trench coat clientele consist of some of the chicest women known to those with a true sense of style. Freelance writer and part time stylist Erika of Fashion Chalet, has seemingly grasped the concept of the new found femininity in a trench. Pairing her Marc by Marc Jacobs trench with a printed Puella at Nine West mini dress and Richard Tyler opened-toe pumps, Erika's look is not only inspirational but romantic and quite affordable. All of which appear to be things to be taken into consideration in today’s times.

How To Wear This Season's Trench:
Styled and dressed to kill, the latest the on the trench is anything but hard-edged. For the lighter and freer months, style within the time should be reflected that way to one's liking. When taking a try at the trench keeping accessories to a slight minimum is important. Pairing the usually neutral colored coat with a show-stopping black heel and winning black clutch will make for the romance much need in times of frustration.

Once again Inside Mode has been tagged, but this time by the fashion-forward Teja of Fesn. Though her blog is mainly written in Slovene, the universal language of fashion & style comes into play. So on that note, thank you Teja! I truly appreciate you noticing Inside Mode.

Out of the 5 trenches you posted, Burberry takes the cake. The English brand is known for their impeccable trenches, therefore the others truly don't compare. I think a trench coat is one of those few special pieces that can truly migrate seamlessly from spring to fall, back to spring. Kudos to you for choosing Erika's photo as a representation of what the perfect trench is all about. LOVING the Marc by Marc, and also the items you decided to pair it with. Classy, chic, sweet, and simultaneously sexy. P.S. Congrats on the Tag! You truly deserve it.

Erika stole all of my words! Curses! But honestly, thank you so much! Aside from the gorgeous collages and stellar layout, the content of INSIDE MODE is insightful and unbelievably relevant to fashion; that is the reason why your blog is one of my favorites on the internet today. Like Erika mentioned, I know your work will soon be published in a MAJOR fashion publication sooner than later, and those who have not yet had the pleasure to indulge in your brilliant work will soon have that chance. They are truly missing out.

I am going to mention the tag in my next post, thanks again for this pleasant surprise!
Btw, I think I managed to fall in love with the only shoe in a post about coats:)
Happy Easter!

Last year my mom bought a Burberry trench for me, then like 3 days later my girl Hillary Clinton wore and was on the front of the NYT in it. haha. And I was strangely even more excited that Hillary and I finally had the same taste in something fashion related. I've been wearing it a lot recently because the weather in NY has been utterly miserable and I feel like it can rain any moment even when it's not supposed to.

My only beef with it's beige goodness is that it gets dirty so quickly. I have light coloured coats from Ralph and Cole Haan that take forever to get dirty, this one picks it up a week after wearing! Waterproof should equal dirt proof too? Especially at these price points!

And thank you so much for the lovely tag.

I'll answer it here because knowing me some window will over excitement and I'll forget.

I love blogging because I get a chance to share something I truly love with people I might never get a chance to meet or wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting thanks to my blog. Being able to have people enjoy my photography and the concept of the entire site is an incredible feeling and experience they don't teach you about in art school.

i live in an asian country -- the philippines, to be exact -- and we have no need for trench coats, unfortunately. but that doesn't stop me for lusting over the perfect trench. Burberry's sick, i love the brand's classic lines!
